Police were called to an armed robbery at the Needs convenience store in Nictaux on March 29 at 11:51 p.m. One male wearing a ski mask entered the store and threatened two clerks with a knife. He fled with an undisclosed amount of cash. The investigation continued on Monday and Tuesday as police interviewed a number of people in follow-up leads.

Local RCMP responded to a variety of unusual calls this week that ranged from an armed robbery, to a driver doing donuts at a local coffee shop. The coffee shop was a popular spot this week, as someone else tried to start a fire on the lawn beside the drive-through.
The RCMP responded to 82 calls for assistance during the week of March 24 through March 31. Among these were two false alarms; four false alarms; six traffic incidents and 15 domestic matters.
Following are highlights of these calls:
-- March 24 at 11:15 a.m. Police were called to a mistaken car identity theft. A motorist reported that an Impala had been stolen in Bridgetown. Investigation revealed that another driver mistakenly took the car. Both sets of keys worked in the identical cars.
-- March 25 at 10:04 a.m. A Wilmot citizen reported that two sheds and a barn were possibly broken into. It was not known if anything was stolen.
-- March 25 at 2:46 p.m. A Brickton resident reported receiving disturbing emails.
-- March 25 at 7:15 p.m. Police assisted EHS staff transport an individual from Meadowvale to Soldiers Memorial Hospital.
-- March 25 at 8 p.m. Police checked an ATV driver on Highway 1, in Wilmot. The driver is facing charges.
-- March 26 at 0:55 a.m. Police were called to a Middleton apartment block, after someone reported an attempted break-in. Investigation revealed there was a problem with a noisy neighbour.
-- March 26 at 2:45 p.m. Police are called to a single vehicle accident on the Hampton Road after a car went off the slippery road and overturned in the ditch. The driver was unharmed, but the vehicle was severely damaged.
-- March 26 at 7:22 p.m. Police received a report of a driver doing donuts in the Tim Horton’s parking lot in Middleton. A patrol was made, but failed to locate the vehicle.
-- March 27 at 2 a.m. Police were called to assist a Clarence resident whose dog was acting strangely. Police took the dog and owner to the vet for treatment.
-- March 27 at 10:57 a.m. A Middleton resident reported seeing a suspicious vehicle. Investigation revealed this was the same vehicle that was seen earlier doing donuts in the Tim Horton’s parking lot.
-- March 27 at 2:17 p.m. A Bridgetown citizen contacted police after discovering that the motor had been stolen from his ride-on tractor.
-- March 27 at 2:29 p.m. Police were called to Victoria Vale to investigate a possible Internet fraud.
-- March 27 at 3:40 p.m. Police received a call that a tractor-trailer in Springfield was losing its load. The driver noticed the problem and remedied the problem before police arrived.
-- March 27 at 9:49 p.m. Police were called to Deep Brook to assist Probation Services with a possible violation of conditions of house arrest.
-- March 28 at 1:31 a.m. Police were called to a Middleton apartment on a noise complaint and discovered that one of the tenants had the volume turned up on the TV.
-- March 28 at 12p.m. Police were called to Cornwallis Park after some ATV drivers were seen doing donuts and ripping up the beach.
-- March 28 at 4:50 p.m. Police were called to a two-vehicle accident in Middleton. No injuries were reported; both vehicles were damaged, but drivable.
-- March 28 at 5:44 p.m. Police received a report that a suspicious person was walking down the middle of the road in Wilmot.
-- March 29 at 8:31 p.m. Onstar called police to report a two-vehicle accident on Highway 1, in Bridgetown East. Minor damage was reported, but no one reported any injuries.
-- March 29 at 2:11 p.m. Police were called to the Bridgetown arena in response to a disturbance between a fan and a hockey player during a game. The fan was expelled and no further problems were encountered.
-- March 29 at 11:34 p.m. Police were called to the Fundy Spray motel in Middleton in response to a disturbance. Out of town hockey players were blowing-off steam after a game. Peace was restored.
-- March 30 at 8:49 a.m. Police were called to the Middleton Tim Horton’s after a suspicious female was seen trying to start a fire on the lawn. A patrol was made and a napkin had been set on fire. The police were familiar with the individual and the matter was dealt with accordingly.
-- March 30 at 11:13 p.m. A Torbrook resident contacted police to assist in dealing with an unwanted guest. A patrol was made and the matter was resolved.
-- March 31 at 6:32 a.m. A Middleton resident reported a disturbance at a Middleton apartment. The matter was resolved before the police arrived.
-- March 31 at 8:45 a.m. Police were asked to assist staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital to deal with an out-of-control patient.
-- March 31 at 12 p.m. Police were called to Nictaux after an alert citizen was able to circumvent an Internet fraud scam. The person became suspicious of a payment arrangement before any money was lost.
