The Theatre Games workshop is designed to relieve stress, restore energy, and send participants out the door with a smile on their face. During the event, players participate in many different scenes with an infinite variety of characters. The results are frequently weird, often unpredictable, and always hilarious.
Games are picked by the participants and usually last less than 10 minutes, or as long as the players can sustain an improvised scene.
The rules are simple: a very basic scene or scenario is suggested and the players
are let loose to improvise a story using their own vocal, physical, or mental talents.
There is no pressure on the players to be good at acting – just to try to keep the game going.
Some sample titles of games offered in this workshop include: Death in One Minute; Actor’s Nightmare; League of Superheroes; Speaking in Song Titles; Animal Waiting Room; Assassin; Fairy Tale in One Minute; What Are You Doing?; Famous Last Words; Gibberish Talk Show; Disaster Movie; Headline News; Mr. So and So; TV Remote Control; and Film Genres.
Other suggestions are welcome.
Improv theatre is based on theatre games that are used in all kinds of teaching scenarios, or played by professionals on TV in “Whose Line Is It Anyway?” or you may have play-acted in a training seminar for work.
No experience is necessary and all ages are welcome to walk-in or drop by to have a chuckle. Cost is $1 to participate.
Workshop participants who don’t play in the games can be audience for the players and their friends are welcome. The workshop is animated by George Clairmont. For more information call 902-748-5295 or Th’YARC at 902-742-8150.
