NovaNewsNow.com “There is a need for women in business in this area to be able to network, to get to know each other, learn best practices, learn from one another,” says economic development officer Joy O’Neill. “We want to create a forum where the women in different towns can interact.”

In partnership with Women in Business, The Annapolis Digby Economic Development Agency has organized an inaugural event to bring women in business together for an exchange of ideas and support.

On March 18 at the End of the Line Pub, women are invited to attend Fashion in the Workplace, a networking event featuring guest Sharon Skaling, president of Simply Sharon and Panoply 3D Image Consulting Inc, who will facilitate an interactive workshop on fashion in the workplace.

In addition to the workshop, women will also have the opportunity to share a light supper and socialize, as well as think about what other types of networking events or meetings they would like to see in the future. The event is open to all women in the workplace or planning to enter the workplace, not just entrepreneurs.

O’Neill notes the success of the women’s networking group that has already been established in Middleton, where entrepreneurs meet over breakfasts to exchange ideas and organize events. She hopes that ADEDA can help create a similar opportunity for women in all the other areas of the Annapolis and Digby counties, though women from the Middleton area are always welcome to participate as well.

Fashion in the Workplace will begin at 6:30 p.m. The cost, which includes a light supper, is $10. For more information, call 638-3490.
