Buckler Exhibit

Until August 31 Ernest Buckler exhibit, Macdonald Museum in Middleton, until August 31, celebrates the 100th birthday of this esteemed Valley author with a display of photos and memorabilia including Mr. Buckler's desk, his typewriter, his university degree hoods, and lots more. The museum also has a small display of Loyalist (reproduction) costumes in commemoration of the 225th anniversary of the Loyalists in Nova Scotia.

Valley Ex Concert

August 14 The Annapolis Valley Exhibition in Lawrencetown presents Witchitaw in concert at 8:30 p.m. at Riverside Concert Stage. Admission at front gate includes concert admission. Sponsored by Fundy Ford.

Whitman Book Launch

August 14 Local author David Whitman will launch his new book See You at the Ex; History and Stories of the Annapolis Valley Exhibition Thursday, Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. at the Main Building. Book signing.

Halifax Buskers Bus Trip

August 14 For ages 55+, $35/person. Motorcoach departs at 9 a.m. and returns at 10 p.m. Contact Grant at Annapolis Royal Recreation to register, 532-7667.

Raylene Rankin Concert

August 15 Raylene Rankin is in concert August 15 at the Riverside Concert Stage at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition in Lawrencetown. Concert begins at 8:30 p.m. Admission at front gate includes concert admission.

August 16 CCMA award winner Deric Ruttan is in concert at the Riverside Concert Stage at the Annapolis Valley Exhibition in Lawrencetown at 8:30 p.m. Admission at front gate includes concert admission.

Church Service

August 17 Annual Church Service at 3 p.m. in Old St. Edward’s Church, 34 Old Post Rd, Clementsport. Guest speaker & reception to follow. All welcome.

Memorial service

August 17 Happy Memories Memorial Service at the Church Groove Cemetery, Melvern Square, at 2 p.m. Guest speaker is Rev. Vaughn Henshaw and special music by Sylvia Luttmann.

Bible School

August 18-22 This year’s VBS theme at the Habitation Baptist Church, Port Royal, is Dino-Detectives – come dig for God’s truth. This is for ages 4 to 19 and runs each evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Bridgetown Market

August 19 Bridgetown Market is held every Tuesday from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at 160 South Street, over the bridge in Bridgetown. Spaces are free. Everyone welcome. Call Lewis 665-2029.

Wednesday Market in AR

August 20 Annapolis Royal Farm Market every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in July and August. Enjoy shopping in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tennis mixers

August 21 Adult tennis “Mixer Nights” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., no fee. Register by phoning the Middleton Rec. Office, 825-6611. Join us for some recreational tennis and meet other players.

Musique Royale

August 22 Presents the Toronto Consort, Canada’s leading chamber ensemble, at King’s Theatre, Annapolis Royal at 8 p.m. The Consort’s performance entitled ‘The Da Vinci Codex’, will feature Italian music from the time of Leonardo Da Vinci.

Wine and Cheese

August 22 North Hills Museum invites you to attend a Wine And Cheese Reception on Friday, Aug. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the museum, 5065 Granville Road, Granville Ferry. The evening will feature oral history remembrances of Robert Patterson facilitated by Ern Dick. For information call 902-532-2168.

Bob’s Birthday

August 23 On Saturday, Aug. 23 from 2 to 5 p.m., the public is invited to attend Bob’s 100th Birthday Party, a celebration of Robert Patterson's gift of North Hills Museum to the people of Nova Scotia. Church Luncheon

August 26 At the Anglican Church Hall, Middleton from 11:30 to 1:00. Enjoy lobster chowder ($7), corn chowder ($6) or beef barley soup ($6), includes dessert. For deliveries in town call 825-4758 before 9 a.m. or 825-2326 after 9 am on the 26th. Sponsored by the Holy Trinity Anglican Church.

Legion Bingo

August 27 Cash, meat and merchandise Bingo at the Annapolis Royal Legion Community Centre, doors open at 6:45, starts at 7:30 p.m.

Charity Auctions & Concert

August 30 Silent & Chinese auctions with fabulous refreshments will be held August 30 at Oakdene Centre, Bear River. Featuring the New Shoestring Swing Band and others. Starts at 7 p.m. In aid of the Bear River Heritage Museum.
