A yard sale will be held for the Durkee Memorial Library at the Carleton fire hall May 19 from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
FAMILY FAIR
May 19
A family fair (silent auction, pony rides, fish pond, treasure chest, and yard sale) will be held at the Mariners Centre grounds near the riding ring on May 19 from 11-3. Proceeds for the Bits and Boots Saddle Club. (If raining, will be held in the kiddie farm.)
OPEN HOUSE
May 20
There will be an open house at Camp Peniel from 1-4 on May 20. Call Camp Peniel at 649-2471 for more information.
SUPPER
May 24
The Leif Erikson Chapter of IODE is holding a ham and scalloped potato supper May 24, 4-6 p.m. at Beacon United Church, Yarmouth. Dinner includes dessert and a beverage and costs $8. ($4 for children under 10). Take out available and there will be a bake table.
POWERSKATING
Starts May 26
The Yarmouth Skating Club is holding a five-week (10 sessions) Power Skating Program starting May 26 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. on Saturdays and 4-5 p.m. on Sundays. For more information call 648-0061 or 742-8897.
TURKEY SUPPER

There will be a turkey supper sponsored by the ladies auxiliary at the Kemptville fire hall on May 26 from 4:30-6. $9 adults, $3.50 for those under 12.
SEA CADETS

The Royal Canadian Sea Cadets (92 Chebogue) annual review will be held at the Yarmouth armouries on Parade Street on May 26.
SUPPER
May 26
There will be a beans and weiners supper at the Lake George fire hall May 26 at 5 p.m. Proceeds for repairs to the Lake George United Baptist Church (including fire escape). Adults $6, those under 12, $4.
CAMP PENIEL EVENTS
May 25-27
A camper and friend celebration will, be held at Camp Peniel May 25-26. Registration 6:30. $20. Experience camp for a day (it’s an overnighter for those ages seven to 17). On May 27 the camp is holding “terrific toonie” asking each church and each person to give a toonie. Info: 649-2471.
PLANT AND BIRDING WALK
May 26
There will be a plant and birding walk on Saturday May 26. Join Carol Jacquard for a walk and learn about the birds in the area, the surrounding plant life and the nature of spring. Group will meet at Carleton School, at 8:30 a.m.
Group will then carpool to the Perry Road where they will be doing the bird/plant walk.
Walk will last approximately two to three hours. Bring a snack and dress for the weather. Rain or shine. Participants must register for this event; call 742-8868 for more information.
FAMILY DAY
May 27
On Sunday, May 27 at the Cape Forchu Lightstation there will be a summer grand opening from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. This family day will include children’s games, BBQ and a performance by the Dixacadie Dancers at 1 p.m. For more information, call 742-4522.
DINNER THEATRE

The Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School’s student council will be hosting a dinner theatre “Learning to Flirt” Thursday, May 31 at 6:30. Tickets will be on sale at the high school and at City Drug starting Monday, May 14 for $10.

The Heart and Stroke’s “Live and Learn” patient education series presented by South West Health’s stroke program, began May 9 (6-8 p.m.) and will run each Wednesday evening for six weeks. GARDENING CONVENTION

The Nova Scotia Association of Garden Clubs is holding its annual convention on June 1-2, at the Rodd Grand Hotel in Yarmouth. The public is invited to attend the two-day event which includes a plant sale on Friday evening, workshops, vendors of

Big Brothers Big Sisters TV auction will be held on Sunday May 27 on Eastlink, Channel 5. This is a new time for the auction as it was previously held in April.
