This dramatic presentation is intense - for the actors and the audience.

Trinity Pentecostal Church in Greenwood presents “Heaven’s Gates, Hell’s Flames” April 15, 16 and 17 at 7 p.m., in its sanctuary at 468 Central Avenue. “The church will be fully made over,” says Pastor Carmen Crockett. “It’ll be a tremendous time.”

Crockett has seen this production done before: two people arrive at a presenting church on a Friday from Reality Ministries, based in St. Catharines, ON. For the next two days, they work with volunteers from the local congregation to pull together a 40-member cast, costumes, backdrops and music for a Sunday night debut. “Heaven’s Gates, Hell’s Flames” presents a series of vignettes about people who die and find themselves faced with where they will spend eternity, based on Biblical scripture. The play is designed to make people aware of Jesus Christ, heaven, Hell and Eternity, according to the Bible. “We want lots of people to come,” says Crockett.

The play has been running in communities around the world since 1979, and is often extended beyond the three planned shows if audience demand warrants it: one run lasted 28 performances in California, before 80,000 people.
