The Caledonian Orchestra will be at the Astor Theater on Sunday, September 13 for a matinee show at 2 p.m. That will delight young and old. Their musical repertoire consists of lively marches, strathspeys, jigs, reels, slow airs and waltzes with the very gifted and always funny director Nelson Ferguson.
The harmonies, timing and tempos reflect a style of music unique to Scotland. Scots Magazine gave a glowing review: "Listeners will believe they are in a village hall somewhere between Perth and Stornoway... The Orchestra... really delivers on its mission statement… (which is) performing in the traditional style of a Scottish Fiddle Orchestra.”
Tickets are available from the Astor box office with a special student price of just $10. Adults $20. Not to be missed.
The Sept. 13 performance is a fundraiser for the 3rd International Ukulele Ceilidh coming to Liverpool in October. The Caledonia Orchestra rehearses in Truro and isn’t affiliated with Caledonia, Queens Co.
