A joint letter from the chair’s of Queens Co.’s various festivals requested the Region create a logo to promote the anniversary.
“It is a momentous occasion, and we need to celebrate this in any way possible,” the letter states.
Council agreed and passed a motion to send out a tender to create the logo. Council also formed a committee, made up of Counc. Owen Hamlin, Deputy Mayor Darlene Norman and Mayor John Leefe to work with the designer.
The logo will be publicly available, and designed in a way so that it can be used for the next four years. Mayor Leefe gave a short history lesson on why it would work.
1759 – First settlers in Queens Co.
1760 – Majority of settlers arrived, and on July 1 was the first meeting of priors of the Liverpool Township.
1761 – The Liverpool Township sent two members to the Nova Scotia Legislature
1762 – The creation of Queens Co.
“This logo will serve us for the next four years as we celebrate these important milestones,” said Mayor Leefe.
Funding for the logo will come from the General Government Contingency Fund.
A logo for celebrating 250 years in Liverpool and Queens
Queens Co. is getting a logo for its 250th anniversary, one that will last for four years.
