Stéphane Déraspe of Deep Sound Productions in Deep Brook has received two nominations for awards from the East Coast Music Association for his work as a studio and live sound engineer.

Topics :
Eastern Canada , Nova Scotia , Quebec

Déraspe is mentioned in two categories, live sound technician of the year, and studio engineer of the year.

In November, Déraspe’s sound, light and recording company was also nominated by Music Nova Scotia as production company of the year. “The fact that I have been nominated for both my live work and my studio work is a great plus.” he said in a news release. “It shows that what I do is appreciated by recording artists and by live bands alike.”

The multi-talented, bilingual musician has toured throughout eastern Canada with different bands, playing keyboards, guitar and percussion, but he enjoys the technical side of the music industry just as much.

Déraspe has produced CDs for artist throughout Nova Scotia as well as musicians from Quebec. His work on live shows has taken him all over the Maritimes, as well as tours in the US with the Acadian group, Grand Dérangement.

The 2009 East Coast Music Awards, festival and conference will be held in Corner Brook, Nfld., from Feb. 26 to March 1.
