Nova Scotia singer, songwriter and folklorist Clary Croft has been delighting audiences throughout Nova Scotia for years with his unique blend of songs and stories.
More recently, he has teamed up with fellow musicians Margo Carruthers and Gordon Stobbe to present “A Nova Scotia Christmas,” a program of Nova Scotia music, stories and folklore.
As part of this year’s slate of concerts, Croft, Carruthers and Stobbe will bring “A Nova Scotia Christmas Celebration” to historic 217-year-old St. Mary’s Anglican Church in Auburn Dec. 1 at 2:30 p.m. as part of the St. Mary’s Concert Series.
The concert series committee is excited over what should be a wonderful wrap-up to their 2007 season.
“Clary performed for us as part of last year’s series and, since then, we’ve been looking for an opportunity to bring him back,” says committee member John DeCoste.
“After I heard this particular concert last December in Wolfville, I suggested to the rest of the committee it might be a good fit for our series. We’ve always wanted to offer something in the way of a Christmas concert - this certainly fits the bill.”
The committee approached Croft and was pleased when he agreed to include St. Mary’s in his 2007 schedule as the only performance in Kings County.
The added presence of Stobbe, one of this province’s finest musicians, and Carruthers, a talented vocalist in her own right (in both English and Gaelic), should make for a truly enjoyable and entertaining afternoon.
Tickets for “A Nova Scotia Christmas Celebration” are $10 in advance (phone 847-9056 or 847-9847) or $12 at the door . Family rates are also available.
