Aug. 25 event planned at Mariners Centre

Topics :
Canadian Idol , Mariners Centre , ATV/CTV , Yarmouth County

A celebration for Canadian Idol finalist, and hometown favourite, Dwight d’Eon is planned for Saturday, Aug. 25 in Yarmouth.

The event will go ahead regardless of whether or not d'Eon advances to the next round of Idol. This week d'Eon performs as part of the Top 5.

D’Eon is expected to arrive at the Mariners Centre at 11 a.m. on Saturday, where people can celebrate his success on Canadian Idol. He will sign autographs but there is no confirmation yet as to whether he may perform.

A stage and two tents will be set up on the grounds of the Mariners Centre.

The event will also feature a welcoming parade for d’Eon (at the request of ATV/CTV which is filming the event), a presentation from the citizens of Yarmouth County and a chance for everyone to hear how d'Eon is enjoying his Canadian Idol experience. D'Eon's band Never will also be on hand.

CTV, which airs Canadian Idol, will film the event.

Dwight d’Eon memorabilia will be on sale, with proceeds going to Ronald MacDonald House Charities.

This week d'Eon and the other Idol finalists will get the opportunity to interact with Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson, winner of the first American Idol, who will perform on Tuesday's results show.
