The Middleton location of Subway and the VON of Annapolis County are partnering to give local seniors a free lunch, once a month.

Carol Ward, VON program coordinator, said that Subway owner Laurie Penny contacted her about setting up a monthly Senior’s Day in Middleton on the last Wednesday of the month. "She wanted to do something special for local seniors and we thought this was a wonderful idea. Lunch will be provided and we¹ll be inviting special speakers to talk about a variety of subjects like safety, health and recreation programs," she said. "Who knows? We may get into gardening and scrapbooking, anything of interest. We¹re going to play it by ear."

The first Senior’s Day will take place in Middleton on Febraury 28. Ward added that she hopes to develop the program over time and possibly add more activities after lunch. "We’re very excited aand looking forward to this," she said. "It’s going to be fun."

For more information about the Senior’s Day, call the VON at 665-4804.
