Premier Darrell Dexter, left, and Queens-Shelburne candidate Sterling Bellieveau were in Middlefield on Sept. 23 to tour Hillsview Acres and discuss the proposal to replace the aging facility.
The facility was built in 1893, originally as a poor farm. It was later turned into a long-term special care facility, with 29 beds.
"We all just want a place for our parents and loved ones we can feel good about," said Dexter.
After touring the facility, NDP candidate for Queens-Shelburne Sterling Belliveau echoed that statement, adding it became obvious right away the facility is due for a replacement.
The provincial election takes place Oct. 8
