It's a common issue in most election, and this one is no exception. Vandals have struck political signs in Queens County, targeting PC Candidate Bruce Inglis' boards.
However Inglis doesn't believe there is much more to it than petty vandalism. It is a nuisance, he says, but recognizes it affects the volunteers.
"The people who are working for me and believe in me, it hurts them because of the time and effort they have put in."
Inglis has had a sign smashed and a couple have been drawn on with marker, giving him various types of beards. Those will have to be replaced. The signs are about $30, plus the wood to frame them and the time to install them.
"I understand the ones with the picture are more prone to vandalism, because you can't draw a mustache on a name."
Inglis though looks at it with a sense of humour.
"I thought I looked good with a mustache and I wish I could grow one."
