Hantsport sought police chief

Although policy requirements necessitate the pediatric ward at the Hants Community Hospital to be closed for seven months of every year, there are some people who believe it should be open year round.

A recent conciliation meeting of the Nova Scotia Nurses’ Union ended in a stalemate between the Dykeland Lodge Local of that union and the latest proposal made to the union by the home’s board of directors.

If you have supervisory experience and have been a constable police, you could be a candidate for the position of Chief of Police in Hantsport.

On Friday, Nov. 2, a man was accidently shot by his friend while hunting in Stewiacke.

The search for a wheelchair that could have been used as evidence in an American lawsuit has proved to be successful.

The Royal Canadian Provincial Legion Command, governing body of legions across the province, gave the word to members of the poppy fund that poppies could not be sold until Nov. 1 this year. Normally, the legion would begin canvassing the last Saturday in October.

The plans for Windsor’s Gala Show of Fashion are complete according to Chris Palham, administrator of the Windsor BIDC, who along with AVR is sponsoring the event.

The RCAF Flyers, the hockey team of Canada’s European-based NATO Air Division Headquarters at Metz, series in West Berlin Oct. 30 – Nov. 1, it was announced by Air Divisions Headquarters at Metz, France. … One of the Flyers who will be making the trip to West Berlin is Leading Aircraftsman Walter Aker, an aero-engine technician, who plays right wing on the team, which makes its home at No. 3 Fighter Wing Sweibrucken, Germany. A son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Aker, 45 Stannus Street, Windsor, he is married to the former Jacqueline Grant of Ottawa.

Hantsport, like our neighbour Windsor, is concerned with the erection of a new fire hall. The matter has been considered for some time by the Council and Fire Department, and at a joint council meeting held Oct. 28, it was decided to call for tenders for its construction. The money has been laid by over a period of years and the hall will be fully paid for when completed.

Also attending the meeting were the members of the school board and architect, Keith Graham. The subject discussed was the holding of another meeting of the rate payers to deal with the school question.
