“The guidance and support of Landmark East School encourages all students to set high goals for themselves. Individual excellence, academically and in personal growth, is sustained by teachers, staff, parents, and volunteers.
“You are to be commended for this investment in those who are recognized today. I am proud that Nova Scotia is home to an institution which specifically focuses on students who are dyslexic, have ADHD or a non-verbal disability.”
These were the words of The Honourable Mayann E. Francis, Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia, when she addressed the graduating class Landmark East School June 18, 2009.
Celebrating 30 years of excellence in education and 10 years of students graduating with their Grade 12 diploma, Landmark East School had many milestones to celebrate.
Two of the school’s original founders, Dr. Bill Mason and Ken Mounce, parents and relatives from Kenya, Turks and Caicos, Bermuda, Ontario, Alberta, Nova Scotia and other places gathered to honour the accomplishments of the ten 2009 graduates.
Tears and cheers, laughter and hugs; the gamut of emotions highlighted the day as all joined together to celebrate the closing of one door and the opening of many more.
