Along with diplomas, achievement awards in all subject areas, bursaries and scholarships were awarded with Chad Lombard winning the Governor-General’s Medal and Brent Robicheau receiving the Queen Elizabeth II Medal.
In her speech to fellow graduates and those in attendance, class valedictorian Lacey Cromwell spoke of Sarah Hatfield who was to have been part of the 2009 graduating class but who died in 2001.
Julia Martin received the Citizenship Award and Brent Robicheau won the Tri-County Regional School Board Student Community Award.
Jocelyn Theriault and Chad Lombard received the Female and Male Athlete of the Year Award.
At the close of the ceremonies, vice-principal Comeau announced that the school had been notified of several scholarships.
Zachary Ryan received a $3,000 Nova Scotia Community College Entrance Scholarship; Melina Spinney was awarded a $3,500 entrance scholarship to St. Francis Xavier University; Keenan Bright received a $4,500 African Nova Scotian university entrance scholarship; and a $7,300 scholarship to Acadia University was awarded to Brent Robicheau.
Sam Mullen received a full scholarship of $3,000 from Memorial University, and Chad Lombard was awarded a $16,000 four-year scholarship to Dalhousie University where he plans to study engineering.
SMBA presents record number of diplomas

Vice-principal Marilyn Comeau said 60 students were graduating making it the largest grade 12 class in the school’s seven year history.
