By Karla Kelly FOR THE DIGBY COURIER NovaNewsNow.com Forty-four grade 6 students received certificates of graduation Monday during ceremonies at Weymouth Consolidated School.

Along with their teachers, Const. Darrell McNeil of the Digby RCMP detachment was on hand to present achievement awards.

Also awarded were certificates, medals and trophies, with Payton Ashe and Byron Mullen receiving medals for highest academic achievement in the English and French Immersion classes, respectively.

Meagan Muise and Byron Mullen received trophies as athletes of the year.

James Gaudett was awarded the citizenship medal from the Tri-County Regional School Board.

Quinton Hatfield and Darcy Tucker received Math awards and Nathalia Melanson and Bailey Mullen mental math awards.

Language arts awards were presented to Evie Hill, Theo Chapelhow, Josh Morine and Evan Moses.

Jonathan Long received the French award and Madison Hill the science award.

Principal Larry Kelly congratulated graduates on their accomplishments. “We are proud of our grade 6 students and their accomplishments,” said Kelly. “We wish them the very best as they take on the challenges of entering junior high at St. Mary’s Bay Academy in the fall.”
