Margo Tait, AVRSB Superintendent, announced June 11 that West Hants Middle School students will return to classes at alternate sites beginning Wednesday of next week.
She said additional time is required to allow the alternate sites to prepare for the arrival of the students and to make all arrangements.
“We are striving to ensure that students receive as much instructional time as possible. In addition, it is important for the students and staff to have a feeling of closure for the school year.”
Final details are being worked out including locations, schedules and busing. More information will be available June 12 on the school and AVRSB websites.
“We are continuing investigations and monitoring at West Hants Middle School. We have met with the Occupational Health and Safety division of the Department of Labour and will act upon their recommendations,” Tait said.
A meeting with parents and board officials will be held early next week; the date and time will be posted Friday.
“We understand this situation is of concern to parents and students. Please know that we are working as quickly as we can through this complex situation to complete the investigation of the facility and to provide students with a successful school year.”
