The Town of Shelburne ushered in a new era with the swearing in of Mayor Alan Delaney and councillors on Wednesday night, Nov. 5.

The new mayor started his first session with a written address, thanking former mayor P.G. Comeau for his long service while noting that major changes in the way council does business were in the offing, with increased openness and teamwork with other agencies and municipalities. “There is a real air of optimism for the future,” he said.

During the meeting a new deputy mayor was chosen, veteran councillor Elizbeth Acker. She was joined in the swearing in ceremony along with councillors Tony Mahaney, Karen Mattatal, Michael Race, Elizabeth Rhuland and Bernie Nickerson.
