Aside from one new board member at the table, there have been few other changes around the table of the Tri-County Regional School Board.

At the board’s annual general meeting, Faye Haley of Digby was once again named chair of the school board. Two other board members, Anne Moses and Joan Brewer, were nominated for the post but both declined. Haley has been chair of the board for a number of years.

Returning as school board vice-chair is Ron Hines, who was re-elected to the board for the seat that covers the Municipality of Argyle and part of the Municipality of Yarmouth. He was the only person nominated for the vice-chair position.

The new board was sworn in at the Nov. 4 meeting. The only new face around the school board table is Andrea Huskilson-Newell, who defeated incumbent Robie Atkinson in the Barrington-area race.

Meanwhile, a recount of the election night results for the seat in District 8 in the Municipality of Yarmouth didn’t change the result, but it did narrow the gap.

On election night Moses, the incumbent, held onto the seat by a margin of seven votes over challenger Dolores Atwood. Following an Oct. 31 recount, which was requested by Atwood, Moses held onto the seat with just four more votes than Atwood.

At its annual general meeting, the board also selected chair and co-chairs of two standing committees. Alvin Comeau and Winnie Surette will serve as chair and vice-chair, respectively, of the finance committee and Moses and Donna Tidd will serve as chair and vice-chair of the education/SAC committee.

The board is still deciding on the structure of other standing committees.
