Blueberry festival

Aug. 5

Blueberry festival Tuesday, Aug. 5, at the Village historique acadien de la Nouvelle-Écosse, Lower West Pubnico. $6 each, ($5 for members.) Variety of blueberry desserts and tea or coffee. Kitchen party

There will be a kitchen party (Soirée de Musique) at the New Horizon Room in West Pubnico, Wednesday, Aug. 6,

7:30 to 9:30 pm. $5 per person. Music by local artists. Tea and coffee.

Open mic

There will be an open mic with Blue Country at Le Club Acadien Friday, Aug. 8, at 8 p.m. No charge. 902-648-2203.

Anniversary

Aug. 9

The Durkee Memorial Library, in Carleton will be celebrating its 70th anniversary (as well as renovations) on Aug. 5. A tea will be provided.

Yard/bake sale

Aug. 9

There will be a yard sale and bake sale at the Brazil Lake hall on Saturday, Aug. 9, until 1 p.m. Proceeds for the Hospital Hullabaloo. Sponsored by the Brazil Lake Women’s Institute.

Vacation Bible school

Aug. 11-15

A power lab vacation Bible school will be held at Yarmouth North Baptist Church (8 Elm St.,) Aug. 11-15 from 9-11:30 a.m. Free program for those ages 4-12. Games, stories, snacks, singing and crafts. Info: church office 902-742-7290.

Family fun day

Aug. 16

A family fun day with music, games, prizes free hotdogs and drink plus a waterslide and bounce castle will be held at the south end playground Aug. 16 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. (family) and from 6 to 8 p.m. (youth). Info : Evangel Assembly 902-742-2069.

The regular monthly meeting of the Yarmouth Town and County Sports Heritage Association will be held at the Hall of Fame, 435 Main St., Thursday Aug. 21, at 7 p.m.

Pairings, an exhibit by the Yarmouth Art Society with the Write Away writers' group, will be at the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives until Sept. 14.

Scenes From History - A retrospective show of paintings by artist Bill Crowell is at the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives through the summer.

Terrific Tuesday

Terrific Tuesdays are held very Tuesday afternoon from 1:30-3:30 p.m. for grades primary to five at Yarmouth Wesleyan Church. Free. Themes such as Fear Factor, Wet-n-Wild. For more information call 902-742-7323.

Hall of fame opened

The Sports Hall of Fame, in its new location at 435 Main St., is now opened from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. And the sports calendar is on sale at the hall of fame, City Drug and Spears and MacLeod Pharmasave. You can also pick up hall of fame nomination forms at the same locations. Deadline is Sept. 30.

Farmers’ market

Every Saturday there is a Farmers’ Market at the Canadian Tire parking lot on Starrs Road from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Veterans Association

The Yarmouth branch of the Royal Canadian Legion has the following events ongoing: Thursdays, 7:30-11, open mic; Saturdays, 9-12:30, dance; Sundays, 7 to 10 p.m., bingo; Mondays,, 7:30-10:30, mixed darts. For members and guests. Info: 902-742-7788.

Support group

Tuesdays

The Baby and Me peer support group meets Tuesday mornings, 10 - 11:30, at Yarmouth Superstore’s community room. All infants with their parents and/or grandparents, as well as pregnant women, are welcome. Peer breastfeeding support is also available. Further info: 902-742-7141.
