Mud covered the floors of the Mill Village Consolidated School as worms dashed to the finish line at the 38th annual worm race on May 30.
The rules are simple; each participant can only enter one worm.
The worm needs a name.
Students cannot keep their worms in a glass container.
Students can prepare their racetrack with dirt and water.
Once the race starts the track or worm cannot be touched in anyway.
A winner is announced when a worm crosses the finish line.
Grades primary, one and two were first to race their worms at 9 a.m.
Coming in first was “furious” who belonged to grade one student Ryan Hatt.
Second place was won by Logan Croft’s worm Jack.
Zachary Hamm and his worm Bumble Bee placed third.
Grades three to six raced next with grade four student Amber Jolimore coming placing first.
Ryan Croft and his worm came in second while Kayla Cross finished third.
Adults and preschoolers even got a chance to send a worm across the wet muddy floor.
In first place was CKBW radio summer cruiser girl, Melissa Wah.
Heather Stevens and her son Noah’s worm finished second with Marlene Crammond in third.
