A science project on weather predicting has brought a little sunshine to St. Mary’s Bay Academy.
Julia Martin, a student at the Weymouth-area high school, last week won the grades 9 and 10 division at the 2007 regional science fair held at the NSCC Burridge Campus in Yarmouth.
Martin also finished third overall and is now eligible to compete at the Canada Wide Science Fair this May in Truro.
Students from schools in the tri-counties took part in what was billed as the 5th annual Tri-County Regional Science Fair. Projects included names such as ‘Bionic Ear’, ‘The solar powered oven’, and ‘How to cover up a murder’.
Aside from the competition itself, there were a number of other activities for students and adults. Students were treated to interactive tours of Burridge Campus and adults had an opportunity to view from last year's national science fair.
