Program coordinator Reneé Hurlburt says she came up with the promotional idea to pump up the number of visitors to the museum, located at 451 Main St.
“They can bring their valentine in and have their picture taken together with the fire engine whether it be mothers and kids, lovers, or whoever,” she said.
The ambience of the museum also lends itself well to Valentine’s Day.
“There’s certainly a lot of red in here,” laughed Hurlburt.
She plans on making decorations for the firetruck, a 1935 Chev-Bickle that was donated to the museum by Mill Village.
“They were kind enough to donate it to us specifically for people to get on. It’s the only one in the museum that people can climb on,” said Hurlburt.
The Firefighters' Museum of Nova Scotia is open 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday and from 1 – 4 p.m. on Saturday. Admission for the month of February is free.
