Buckler Exhibit

Until August 31 Ernest Buckler exhibit, Macdonald Museum in Middleton, until August 31, celebrates the 100th birthday of this esteemed Valley author with a display of photos and memorabilia including Mr. Buckler's desk, his typewriter, his university degree hoods, and lots more. The museum also has a small display of Loyalist (reproduction) costumes in commemoration of the 225th anniversary of the Loyalists in Nova Scotia.

Bible school

August 4-8 The DDVS Program at the Margaretsville Baptist Church will run daily, 9:30-11:30, for ages 4 to 8. Held by the Genesis Christian Missionaries. Contact Deanna for more info at 825-6856.

Tennis mixers

August 7 & 21 Adult tennis “Mixer Nights” from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., no fee. Register by phoning the Middleton Rec. Office, 825-6611. Join us for some recreational tennis and meet other players.

Pot Luck, Jam Session

Auhust 8 Pot Luck/Barbecue Supper and Jam Session, Friday Aug. 8 beginning at 6 p.m. at North Hills Museum, Granville Ferry. Bring a salad or dessert; burgers, hot dogs and drinks provided. Jam begins at 7 p.m. Don't forget your chair. For info call 902-532-2168.

Workshop

August 9 Look Good Feel Better workshop, helping women deal with the appearance related side effects of cancer and its treatment, will meet 10am-12 noon, private dining room (cafeteria) at Valley Reg. Hospital, Kentville. To register for this free workshop, call 679-2657, ext 2835.

Trask reunion

Indoor Yard Sale

August 9 An Indoor Yard Sale will be held August 9 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Lots and lots of items plus furniture. Canteen also available -- hot dogs, muffins, tea coffee etc. To be held at the Wilmot Baptist Church Christian Fellowship Centre, corner of Dodge Road and Highway 1.

Benefit show

August 9 For Linda & Rick Medicraft at the Brickton Hall, 7:30 p.m. Music by Ernie Marshall, Valley Blue, Aubrey Whitman, Murray Fralic, and “Lo-Rita”. Also Chinese Auction, 50/50 tickets & door prizes. Free will admission.

Coffee House

August 9 Bear Rhythm is sponsoring a Coffee House at Oakdene Centre featuring “Tumbleweed”, artists in Gospel, Texas swing, electric and country, at 7:30 p.m.

Musical evening

August 9 Fundy Choral presents “Between Friends” concert at 7 p.m., Digby Baptist Church.

Lion’s breakfast

August 9 The Bridgetown Lion’s Breakfast will be held on August 9 (not Aug. 2) from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at their Hall on Church St. Enjoy an omelette with all the good stuff, free will offering.

Moonlight Concert

August 9 The ninth annual Moonlight Concert in Paradise begins at 7:30 p.m. August 9 at the grounds of Ellenhurst, 10252 Highway 1 in Paradise. Listen to music from the Big Band Era performed by the Annapolis Big Band. Free parking, on-ground transportation. Free admittance although donations are accepted. Proceeds go to the Paradise Community Hall.

Teddy Bear Picnic

August 10 Teddy Bear Picnic Sunday, Aug. 10, 2 to 5 p.m. at North Hills Museum, Granville Ferry. Fun for all ages. Bring your favorite bear to share teddy treats and games. Bear making demonstrations, bear displays, bears for sale and Bubbles the Clown will do bear face painting. For info call 902-532-2168.

Claymation Camps

August 11 to 15 Claymation Camp for children age 10 to 14 will be offered at the Bridgetown C@P Site at the Bridgetown Development Centre, Room 110. Camp runs from 10 a.m. to noon. For information Contact Karen at 665-4231 or email info@bridgetowncap.com.

August 13 Annapolis Royal Farm Market every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in July and August. Enjoy shopping in a relaxed atmosphere.

Loyalist Celebration

August 13 at the Macdonald Museum on School St., Middleton from 2 to 4 p.m. Enjoy food and musical entertainment, free will offering.

Halifax Buskers Bus Trip

August 14 For ages 55+, $35/person. Motorcoach departs at 9 a.m. and returns at 10 p.m. Contact Grant at Annapolis Royal Recreation to register, 532-7667.
