Letter to the Annapolis County Spectator

Topics :
RCMP , Dear Editor , Annapolis County , Sand Lake

Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter with reguard to your column ‘Annapolis RCMP Crime Report.’ I have read the column on a number of occaions, and find it most disturbing. The RCMP members who proudly serve our area should not be portrayed as a law enforcement group eager to investigate ‘why a horse is tied to a tree,’ but public servants willing to put their lives on the line for our safety and protection.

The column, in my opinion, makes both the RCMP and the residents of Annapolis County look like something out of the movie ‘Deliverance.’ Do we really want our community members and our tourists to think that our law enforcement team deal with only complaints of this nature? I think not.

Our law enforcers have a lot more serious problems to deal with. While Crime Reports may be a positive thing, lets list the incoming calls into categories, for example, Break and Enters, Motor Vehicle Accidents, Domestic Disputes, and even Nuisance Calls. To expand further, it could be broken down into districts within our county. This would give the public the facts that they may (or may not) need, and not make a laughing stock of the people who live and serve our peaceful, rural, and above all, friendly Annapolis County, a place we are still very proud to call home.
