Ray Nelson, a well-known figure in local real estate, has had his broker’s licence cancelled.

Nelson was under investigation by the Nova Scotia Real Estate Commission after his licence to trade in real estate was suspended for 90 days last August.

Following the investigation, Nelson’s licence to practice real estate in Nova Scotia has been permanently cancelled by the commission’s discipline committee and Nelson has agreed never to reapply.

Doug Dixon, registrar for the Nova Scotia Real Estate Commission, said such discipline actions are not common. “I don’t know that we’ve had three (cancellations) in 12 years,” he said. “It’s not a common thing for us to do. Those are the most severe of penalties if we’re doing that.”

Dixon acknowledged that the RCMP is also investigating the matter.
