November 25, 2007 to December 1, 2007 continued

 - HAZEL, Laura Elizabeth, age 74, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 30, 2007, at the Halifax Infirmary, Q.E. II, Halifax. Born on August 5, 1933, in Walton, Hants County, Nova Scotia, she is the daughter of the late Grant and Ethel (Reynolds) Fowler, of Windsor. Laura graduated from the Windsor Academy in 1950, Windsor School of Business in 1951, then working many years as a legal secretary in both Nova Scotia and Massachusetts. In later years, she operated a home bookkeeping service in Windsor. Laura was a supporter of many local charities, a life long caregiver of elderly friends and relatives, and a long time member of the UCW. A devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, Laura enjoyed family vacations, winters in Florida and enjoyed many years of dancing with her husband, Laurie. Surviving is her husband of 55 years, Laurie; son, Greg (Elaine), Clearwater, Fl.; daughters, Andrea (Eric) Sanders, Shrewsbury, Ma.; Dorothy, Bradenton, Fl.; grandchildren, Michele, Eric, Jamie, Gwendolyn, Erica and Ross; step-grandchildren, Jason, Nick, Eric and Michele; great grandchildren, Michael and Jason; sister, Dorene (Roland) Arbour, Ottawa, Ontario; sisters-in-law, Frances Fowler, Dartmouth; Janet (Lawrence) Boyd, Tonge Hill; brother-in-law, Clarie (Donna) Hazel, Scotch Village; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Grant and Ethel (Reynolds) Fowler, she was predeceased by her brother, Bud Fowler; and by a sister-in-law, Shirley Hunter. There was no visitation at Laura’s request. A memorial service was held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 4, 2007, in the Windsor United Church, 613 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Bill Gibson officiated, followed by a reception in the Windsor United Church Annex. Interment will be held at Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor, at a later date. No flowers by request. Donations in memory of Laura were requested to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Lung Association of Nova Scotia.
