 - Nicholas C. Bochain, Sr.  - January 5, 1916 – April 9, 2007. Born in New York City to Amelia and Emilian Bochain.  Attended college in New York City and Alabama.  Served with honor in World War II and Korea. Ran a farm, a sawmill and a hot dog stand.  Was a photographer.  Was an aeronautical engineer for Pratt and Whitney and Kaman Aircraft.  Loved hunting, fishing, camping, clamming, mushroom picking and baking bread.  Made great beer.  
Loved his family, the sea, his country and his friends.  Loved Moosup and Colchester, CT as well as Block Island Sound, and the Peribonca River in Northern Quebec.  Loved Nova Scotia, and the Everglades in Florida.  Fascinated by everything. Loved and remembered by his wife of 57 years, Grace (Dolly) Markham Bochain; by his brother Alex Bochain; by his son Nicholas C. Bochain, Jr,; by his daughter Grace Bochain Luddy with William Luddy and grandchildren, Kevin and Emily; by his daughter Amelia Bochain Parcinski with Stan Parcinski, by grandchildren Jennifer, Dan, Todd, and Elisabeth and great grandchildren Morganne and Madalyne; by his daughter Mary King Bochain with Paul Maloney and grandchildren Danielle, Isabelle and Stephanie; by his son George Bochain with Catherine Meluish Bochain and grandchildren Amelia, Hannah and Matthew; by his daughter Catherine Ann Bochain with Anne D’Alleva and his grandson, James. Nick passed away at his home in Florida and will return to Connecticut in a few weeks. Condolences can be sent to Dolly at Little Club, 18081 Southeast Country Club Drive, Unit 444, Tequesta, FLA, 33469.  A memorial service will be held in Moosup, CT. with timing to be announced in accordance with his wife’s wishes.  Contributions in his honor can be made to Save the Sound (savethesound.org), a nonprofit organization dedicated to the restoration and protection of Long Island Sound and its watershed, or to the Fisher House  (fisherhouse.org), an organization that provides lodging to veterans and military families receiving treatment at military medical centers.
