March 25, 2007 to March 31, 2007 continued

 - Cecil Miles Lowe — In the early morning of Friday, March 30, 2007, Dad closed his tired eyes for the final time, with family at his side. Born June 9, 1926, to the late William and Anne (Seamone) Lowe of Milton, he was the last surviving member of his family. Dad was a well-known teamster of oxen. He loved to show and work his team for tourists and friends. Many pictures were taken and sent back to him from various parts of the country. One team won a special exhibition haul in Lunenburg on June 16, 1983 that was held in honor of the “Royal Visit” from Princess Di and Prince Charles. He also had a team that was on show at the Lord Nelson Hotel. Another love of his was telling bear stories, which always held his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in amazement. He was employed at Bowater Mersey as a millwright, until his early retirement due to ill health. Dad was an honorary Board of Director for the Queens County Fair. Over the past years, he would take his weekly drive to North Queens Nursing Home to deliver a copy of the weekly Advance. He is survived by daughters, Beverly (Brian) Purdy, Cathy (Randy) Conrad; sons, Gary (Hattie), Eric (Rose), all of Milton; grandchildren: Tracey, Jeff, Shannon, Melanie, Norma, Genny, Gary Jr., Lisa and Leslie; great-grandchildren: Chelsey, Samuel, Kolby, Kaylee, Jimmy, Alyssa, Wyatt, and Brandon; and his special companion, Buddy. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Genevieve Glode; brothers: Gilbert, Gordon, Walter and Edward. No service by request. Cremation will be under the direction of Chandlers’ Funeral Home. Family committal at later date. Donations may be made to Queens General Hospital Palliative Care Unit or to North Queens Nursing Home. Online condolences may be made to www.chandlersfuneral.com.
