Maggie mopped up at the 2014 Scallop Days Pet Fashion show.

The shaggy Shih Tzu won Grand Prize on Wednesday, Aug. 6 at the annual event sponsored by the bay View Animal Hospital.

Maggie wore a pink hankerchief on her head, and a mop handle attached to her collar so she looked every bit like her nickname Maggie the Mop. Clare and Santana Gidney, granddaughters of Eleanor Gidney, escorted Maggie and also wore pink plastic gloves and carried a scrub bucket.

Stan the Pirate, a German Short-haired Pointer, escorted by Melissa, Miles and Meghan Favetta of Ontario, won most creative and cooperative.

Molly, a Lhasa Apso escorted by Friday Thibodeau of Marshalltown, won most social and princess wannabe.

Nova, a French Bull Mastiff escorted by Ryker Pulley, won best bonded buddies.

See the photo gallery for photos of the contestants.

The Pet Fashion Show was the first event in the 2014 Digby Scallop Days, which continue tonight with a free outdoor movie at Digby Centre by the marina and a full slate of events Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
