It was a day to celebrate Canada and all things Canadian.

Events were  held in communities across the country on July 1 in honour of the nation's 147th birthday.

In Burlington, this year's community fair drew an estimated 1,500 people for the street parade, flag raising, barbecue, horse pull, entertainment, pie and flower contests and more.

In New Minas, Lockhart and Ryan Memorial Park played host to hundreds of visitors who took in the live music, barbecue, face painting, soap slide, balloon sculptures and more.

Wolfville celebrated with music, a barbecue and water fun - including a water fight hosted by the mayor. 

Greenwood's celebrations included family activities, music and fireworks

Other places hosting Canada Day events in Kings included Berwick, Aylesford Lake beach, Hall's Harbour, Scott's Bay and Ross Creek Centre for the Arts.
