Canada is turning 147 this year, and you can be part of the celebrations taking place at Queens Place Emera Centre in Liverpool.  Events are planned on Monday, June 30, and Tuesday July 1.

On June 30 there will be a “School’s Out for Summer” event for youth aged 12 - 18 from 8 to 11 p.m. This event features laser tag, a Sumo ring with wrestling suits, human hamster ball races, a bungee run, a dance corner, food, and door prizes drawn every half hour.

Tuesday, July 1 will feature a family fun day for all ages from 2 – 6 p.m. including inflatables, music by the Tangos and Hal Bruce, carnival games, displays of traditional skills, food, and more. In addition, organizers are delighted to welcome the Halifax Circus for a main stage performance at 3 p.m. Members of the company have performed across North America, India, Singapore, Europe and Africa, and the show includes aerial silks, unicycles leaping from boxes, high-octane juggling, stilt walking, high flying diabolos and acrobatics.

The day will conclude with a 5 km running race starting at 6 p.m. from the Milton Community Hall and ending at Queens Place Emera Centre; information about the run and costs can be obtained by contacting Jack Fancy at 354-7216.

There is no cost for any of the Canada Day events at Queens Place Emera Centre and is funded by the Emera company as well as the Government of Canada, Department of Canadian Heritage, along with the assistance a large number of community volunteers to help host this event.
