Pastor Tim Bigelow passed away May 4 after a long battle with cancer.
Bigelow, the former pastor of the Burlington United Baptist Church, chose not to keep his illness secret from his many friends and his congregation.
A group of about 14 of his friends are committed to keeping his memory alive and have formed a team to participate in this weekend’s Relay for Life in Kentville.
“Pastor Tim was an inspiration to us all. Our team was formed because of his inspiration, caring and zest for life when looking at a terminal cancer diagnosis,” says Pastor Tim’s Team co-captain, Leah Sweet.

“He lost his battle on May 4, but we battle on because we want his life to be remembered in a unique way. Pastor Tim chose to embrace life to the fullest, and we are doing the same by participating in the Relay for Life in his memory.”
Sweet says the team has been actively fundraising for the past few weeks.
“We’ve sold tickets on gift baskets and on an afghan, and we’ve held a bake sale,” she said. “We started late, but we’re planning to do this again next year and from now on. I promised Tim that as long as I’m able, I’ll do this for him.”
The Kentville Relay for Life is set for June 13-14 at Kentville’s Memorial Park.
