Community members, school volunteers, parents and students came together to plant a garden at the Islands Consolidated School.

The O2 class at ICS invited the community to the opening and initial planting of their school garden on Monday, June 2.

The students have built a school garden to supply their school canteen and supplement curriculum from P-12 by providing additional hands-on learning opportunities.

Everyone in attendance participated in the planting of the garden.

All the guests were proud of the students’ hard work and commitment to their school. The O2 students and community volunteers will maintain the garden in the summer.

After planting, guested were invited into the school to watch a presentation put together by the students about their O2 accomplishments and future plans.

The presentation was accompanied by refreshments made by the O2 class in the school canteen.

In addition to more selection in the canteen, the students plan to create a series of videos that promote the islands.

The videos will highlight local businesses, tourist attractions, and historic landmarks that can be found throughout the communities
