King’s-Edgehill Junior School is excited to present this year’s stage production, The Wizard of Oz, this weekend. The award-winning musical is based on the 1939 musical fantasy film produced by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer.
The stage will come alive with singing and dancing as 25 KES students entertain audiences with this musical version of L. Frank Baum’s 1900 novel, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Join young Dorothy (Joanna Bond) and her dog Toto as they are uprooted from their Kansas farm and transported to the strange and beautiful land of Oz. Great adventure awaits. Follow Dorothy down the yellow brick road and meet the Good Fairy of the North (Ella Jollymore), the Wicked Witch of the West (Nandini Mishra), the Munchkins, the Scarecrow in need of a brain (Andrew Canete), the heartless Tin Man (Nicola DuToit) and the Cowardly Lion (Linus Mulherin).
The musical is under the direction of Toven MacLean, who has produced many first-rate productions at King’s-Edgehill School including, Shrek, Oklahoma, Annie, and The Sound of Music.
The performances will be held in the Fountain Performing Arts Centre on Friday, Feb. 28 and Saturday, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for the show are $12 for adults and $6 for students and are available at the door or by calling (902) 798-2278.
