LEGO Donations

The Barrington Municipal Library wishes to start a LEGO Club for children in the fall of 2014. We are seeking donations of any and all LEGO pieces and storage bins. Contact the library for more information.

Preschool Story Hour

Fridays through March 28, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Children ages three to five can enjoy stories, games, music, crafts and lots of fun.

Crafty Kids: St. Patrick’s Day

Tuesday, March 11, 3 p.m.

Children ages four to seven will create a St. Patrick’s Day craft and share a tasty snack during this half-hour seasonal craft program.

Live Angry Birds

Thursday, March 13, 6 p.m.

Do you love playing Angry Birds? Come try this life-sized version you can create yourself. Play the game, make a craft and have lots of fun! This program is for youth ages eight to 12.

NFB Film Club: The People of the Kattawapiskak River

Wednesday, March 19, 6:30 p.m.

Alanis Obomsawin’s documentary The People of the Kattawapiskak River exposes the housing crisis faced by 1,700 Cree in Northern Ontario, a situation that led Attawapiskat’s band chief, Theresa Spence, to ask the Canadian Red Cross for help. With the Idle No More movement making front page headlines, this film provides background and context for one aspect of the growing crisis.

LEGO Challenge

Wednesday, March 12, 3 to 4 p.m.

Children in Grade Primary to 3 can come and make their own LEGO creations and demonstrate their LEGO imagination. Register by Tuesday, March 11.

Creative Kids: Frog Pop-Up Card

Friday, March 14, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

Youth ages eight to 11 can welcome the spring peepers with this cute frog pop-up card made with construction paper. Register by Thursday, March 13.

Wii Mario Kart Challenge

March 11 to 15 during open hours

Take part in the March Break Mario Kart Challenge! There are three age categories and a chance to win a free DVD rental by posting the fastest time. Age categories are five to eight years, nine to 11, and 12 to 14. Other games such as chess will also be available to play.

Knitting Club

Tuesdays, 2 to 4 p.m.

Whether you are an experienced knitter or a beginner, bring your yarn and needles and join Mona Foged for the Knitting Club from 2 to 4 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Shelburne library. The club offers knitters an opportunity to exchange knitting tips and ideas.

Brown Bag, Books and Banter Club

Tuesday, March 11, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Participate in the Brown Bag, Books and Banter Club at 12:30 p.m. The group will discuss The Light Between Oceans by M.L Stedman. New members are welcome.
