Congratulations to Ben Brown of Cambridge, who is on the 2014 Canadian Olympic Team, going to Rio de Janeiro.
Members of the ACW gathered at Christ Church hall, which was nicely decorated for their potluck Christmas dinner Dec. 2. They had a brief meeting discussing who was taking the gifts to the youth centre, the food to the food bank and decorating the church on Dec. 23 at 10 a.m. Next meeting is March 3, with a green auction. Following the dinner, the group of 25 sang carols with Ruth Anne Harris on the keyboard. The ladies had a great afternoon.
The MacPherson Auxiliary met in the Ladies’ Parlour of the Baptist Church at 5:30 p.m. for a potluck Christmas supper. The room was nicely decorated. The group had an exchange of gifts. President Marilyn Reeves opened the meeting, Wanita Tooker did several readings and Dot Little also did a reading. Cards have been sent to the sick.
The new officers for 2014 are: president, Vivian Morse; vice-president, Marjorie Saunders; treasurer, Marilyn Reeves; secretary, Jeannie Huntley; and callers, Amanda Whitman and Betty Banks. The next meeting will be March 3.
Dec. 10 was the last card party at the South Berwick Community Centre until the new year.
The Rebekah lodge held its Christmas party Dec. 4. Myrtle Lodge #46 and St. Eulalie #27 were invited, along with a few other guests. They played games and gave out prizes. Harley Corkum, Jim Huntley and Audrey Bezanson were the musical entertainment. Helpers for the card parties and suppers were called up and given gifts. The two lodges attending presented the lodge with monetary gifts. These events were followed by a lunch of finger foods. Winners from the craft fair draws were lotto wreath, Karen Harding; 50/50 draw, G. Menzies; and door prize, Leslie Hamilton.
