More than 100 runners completed a five-kilometer run and donated 155 toys to help local children have a happy Christmas Dec. 1 in Greenwood. - Submitted

Local runners helped out Santa recently with the Toy Trot in Greenwood.

There were 110 runners who signed up to participate in the Exit Reality Toy Trot on Dec. 1. Runners provided a new toy to enter the five-kilometre run. In total, 155 new toys were donated.

The toys have been given to Friendly Neighbours for distribution with the Christmas Hampers.

Exit Reality employee Aaron Daniels came up with the idea for the event because she wanted to fill a need in the community and to do something different that would involve the community in a direct way, rather than just dropping off a donation. At one of the staff meetings, it was accepted and immediately all the staff were on board.

The entire cost, except for the hot chocolate and doughnuts, which were donated by Robins, was borne by the management and agents at Exit Realty. Jenny Weir of Exit Reality donated the water for the runners.
