Lockeport is in full Christmas mode as they celebrate Christmas by the Sea.

Approaching its 6th year, this series of Christmas celebrations main theme is to draw together the community to celebrate the holiday season and to promote local shopping.

To start the season on a tree lighting was held on Thursday, Dec. 5 in the square with children from the Lockeport schools singing carols to help everyone get into the Christmas cheer.

Hot chocolate and refreshments were shared.

“It’s a nice little time to get together as a community,” said Francis Scott, recreation director for the Town of Lockeport.

From then until Christmas, there are many community events held throughout the town as well as sales and contests by local vendors.

The craft fair will be held at the recreation centre on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.

The man of the hour, Santa, will be coming to town on Friday, Dec. 13 at the Lockeport Fire Hall at 5 p.m.

There will be games, activities and refreshments as well as the chance to tell Santa what you want to see under the tree Christmas morning.

“There will be activities right up until Christmas,” said Scott.

Just a suggestion for the Christmas season....It would be very nice if the kids could go to the Surf Lodge Nursing Home and sing for the residents. A lot of them can not get out to these events and are very happy when these things come to them.
