The Pride of Baltimore under full sail during last year's Tall Ship visit.
Money left over from the Shelburne visit of the Tall Ships in 2012 will be offered to local groups to help with events, festivals and other projects.
Organizers say the Tall Ships event was a huge success, with public participation and community support far exceeding expectations.
As a result, the Tall Ships Shelburne visit realized a modest surplus in its budget.
The local planning group has since established a Tall Ships Shelburne Legacy Fund to use this surplus to provide financial assistance to local events, festivals and other projects designed to positively impact the public profile of the Town of Shelburne.
The Planning Group has established a set of guidelines for proposals for funding.
Requests for funding must be submitted in a well-prepared business/event plan. New events, festivals and projects with clear benefits for the Town will be considered. Established events (three or more years in operation) would not qualify unless there is substantive change or expansion in the proposal.
The approval process will be administered by existing members of the Tall Ships Shelburne Planning Group. The finances of the fund are administered by the Town of Shelburne.
There is no application form. Proposals can be submitted on a continuous intake basis through the Community and Economic Development Department of the Town of Shelburne, by mail, or email.
