There is one incredible picnic coming to the Queens County Fair this Saturday.
On the plate will be a choice of meat from a whole roast pic or hip of beef, with sides of roasted baby potatoes with herb seasoning, a mixed green salad, green and yellow bean salad, coleslaw, or carrot salad, and home made blueberry grunt.
The Lunenburg Queens Federation of Agriculture is partnering with the Queens County Fair to host and serve the meal, with the proceeds being split between the two groups.
The picnic takes place Saturday, Sept. 21 starting at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $7.50 for children 5-12 and under 5 are free.
Vicki Conrad, a director with the federation, was in council on Sept. 10 to ask council for a $250 donation towards the cost of putting on the picnic. The motion was passed unanimously.
The total cost to put on the event is around $1750.
Conrad says they are reaching out to local producers from both counties to provide food for the event.
"The incredible picnic allows local farmers to really showcase their product," she says.
At the supper, a poster will show where all the ingredients came from in the two counties.
