The flippin’ fiddler is returning to Brooklyn this month as part of a cross-Canada tour for The Scott Woods Show’s Swingin’ Fiddles.
Woods, a winner of multiple Canadian Open and Grand Masters Fiddle Contests, is hitting the road with a talented six-musician ensemble ready to take audiences back to the days of swing.
“Were taking some of the old swing tunes from the 1920s, 30s, 40s and 50s and we are playing them in three part harmony with three fiddles,” said Woods.
“It’s a very unique sound.”
Woods says the three-fiddle approach is new to The Scott Woods Show.
“Everybody gets their toes tapping right at the beginning. We play tunes like Five Foot Two and When the Red, Red Robin Comes Bob-bob-bobbin’ Along and Yes Sir, That’s My Baby.”
In addition to featuring toe tappin’ tunes that put smiles on the faces of many, The Scott Woods Show is known for its comedic elements, step dancing and, of course, the flippin’ fiddler.
Woods, a sixth-generation fiddler from Ontario, can play behind his back and land front or back flips without missing a note.
The two-hour show is slated for Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Brooklyn Civic Centre. Tickets cost $20 for adults, $10 for children between the ages of six and 12 years. Children under the age of five years can attend for free.
Advance tickets are available at Moe's Place Music Sales in Windsor, or by calling toll free 1-855-SCOTTWOODS (1-855-726-8896) to charge. A complete tour schedule can be viewed at www.scottwoods.ca.
