Pet Projects wants to turn your beloved pet into a star.
After much demand, the annual Pet Projects calendar fundraiser has decided to release two calendars with one featuring dogs and the other cats.
“We have decided to do a pet owners contest,” said one of the organizers Penny Smith.
People from all over Shelburne County are invited to submit their favourite pet photo. They may enter as many as they want and each submission will cost $5.
Pet Projects asks that there be no people in the photos.
“We are hoping we have hundreds to choose from,” said Smith. Each submission fee will go toward helping animals in need in Shelburne County.
Last year’s cat calendar fundraiser was a success but organizers are hoping to at least double what was raised, so more animals can be helped.
The funds as well for the $15 purchase price of the calendar will go toward printing costs and the organization’s spay, neuter and medical emergency fund.
The chosen submissions will be featured on their own month of the calendar and from those a community favourite will be picked on Dec. 15 with a special gift going to the winner.
To help with costs, they are asking organizations and businesses to sponsor a month for $200.
“It’s amazing how much difference we can do with the money raised,” said Smith.
Photos must be in colour and in high resolution, include pet name, age and owners name and contact information. Deadline is Oct. 15 and is open to Shelburne County residents only. Photo can be submitted by mail to P.O. box 267, Shelburne, NS, B0T 1W0
