Port Williams

The Port Williams and District Lions Club will be providing Christmas baskets (a complete Christmas dinner) to families in need in their area (Mee Road to Starrs’ Point and Canard River to Cornwallis River). If you know of any families who may be eligible, advise Lion Brian Tupper at 542-3432 no later than Dec. 15.

Tickets for the Lions Club’s Christmas draw are available from any member of the club and are three for $5 or $2 each. The draw will be Dec. 16. First prize is 450 litres of furnace oil donated by West Nova Fuels, 2nd prize is a $100 gift certificate donated by the Port Bistro Pub, 3rd prize is a $50 gift certificate donated by Jungle Jim’s and 4th prize is a Sunday brunch for two donated by the Old Orchard Inn & Spa. Funds raised are used to provide the Christmas food baskets to needy residents in the Port Williams area.

The Cogswells invite friends and neighbours to their annual 3-D party Dec. 19 from 3 p.m. to midnight - or thereabouts - and, as well, to their annual skating party Dec. 27 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Acadia rink. All youth organizations are especially welcome.

Wondering what to get those hard-to-buy-for people on your Christmas list? What do you get for someone who has it all? Have any nature lovers, play enthusiasts or trail blazers on your Christmas list? Why not make a donation to the Port Williams Park in honour of someone else? You will receive a tax receipt and they will receive a Christmas card explaining your donation.

EMS: The 44-page EMS yearbook is going full colour this year, and yearbook Christmas gift certificates are available in the office until Dec. 19 at a cost of $20. The next PTSA meeting will be held Jan. 12 at 7 p.m., with topics for discussion including cafeteria prices and a report on the school success plan. Madame Larade’s exploratory group created a “Tree of Hope,” located in the library, where new or gently used toys can be left at any time during the school day.

Baptist church: The fourth Advent Sunday service Dec. 20 is intergenerational and includes a Sunday School pageant telling the Christmas story. The Christmas reception is at 11:15 a.m.

Greenwich United: "Comfort & Joy," the Christmas cantata and communion, will be held Dec. 20.

St. John’s Anglican: The Christmas pageant will be held Dec. 20 at 11 a.m.
