Rain-delayed fireworks rescheduled for this evening

By Karla Kelly FOR THE DIGBY COURIER NovaNewsNow.com The traditional Weymouth Day parade continued as the main event for the Canada Day activities in the village this year but the addition of a children’s parade first added to the entertainment for the hundreds of spectators lining the streets.

The parade route ran from the Payson Road down through the village and up to the Cricket Field where most of the Canada Day events took place.

The flag raising and cake cutting, along with fair rides baseball games, dunk tank, pork barbeque and plenty of rappie pie, hot dogs and hamburgers were available at the historic sports field.

The annual Weymouth Lions Club duck race was held downtown with funds raised going to the new library playground. There was also bingo at the Weymouth Legion and plenty of music during the day with a dance at the Legion to end Canada Day.

The fireworks display was cancelled until this evening due to rain.
