You don’t need a pirate’s map to find Annapolis Royal, but on June 20 you’ll find tons of treasure in the gem-of-a-town.
The Annapolis District Board of Trade, along with the community of the Town of Annapolis Royal and local businesses would like to extend an invitation to one and all interested in attending a Community Wide Yard Sale on Saturday, June 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (rain date June 27).
This is a chance for people to sell items they don’t need anymore, buyers to find tons of treasures, to make some extra money, and basically just join together as a community to do something fun.
In these hard economic times, the Annapolis District Board of Trade is continuously searching for affordable yet effective ways to bring people into the town and perhaps, while here, shop at local businesses, eat at local restaurants, and overall, just help the local economy.
Currently there are five annual events that the Annapolis District Board of Trade and participating local businesses support each year as a way to promote the community and draw people into the town.
The events for 2009 started with the second annual February Inventory Blow Out and Beach Party that was held at the Annapolis Royal Fire Hall. This event was a huge success with over 800 people attending over the two days. The massive amount of inventory at this event was sold at least 50 per cent off regular retail prices. Lucky shoppers walked away with amazing deals.
The ADBoT moved on to the third Annual Easter Promotion (unselfishly organized and implemented by Paula Buxton and lots of other generous volunteers) that was held on Easter Weekend and proved to be a great success and tons of fun for the children who participated.
This Community Wide Yard Sale is the third event the board is organizing and supporting and organizers are hoping it is successful enough to make it an annual event.
The next event that the Annapolis District Board of Trade will be the second annual Woman's Weekend being held from October 2 to 4 2009. This event is a way to celebrate women and let them pamper themselves and join other women for a fun-filled weekend in Annapolis Royal. Events such as Painting Workshops, Cooking Workshops, Hula Dance, Theatre, Special Meals, Spa Treatments, Discounted Shopping and so much more will be included in this year’s celebrations.
The board of trade will once again finish the year with the 2009 Christmas Celebrations in November and December. Late Night Shopping, The Walking Parade of Lights, Santa Visits, Wagon Rides (and more) have proven year after year to be a lot of fun for everyone attending.
A number of local businesses buy into the annual promotion packages that ADBoT sets up each year and these funds raised go to pay for the events listed above. Without the ongoing support of these businesses, the events would simply not be possible.
So if you do business or live in or around Annapolis Royal, Granville Ferry, Upper Clements, Moschelle, Lequille, Victoria Beach, Parkers/Delaps/Youngs Cove and would like to participate in this huge event for free, please contact: 526-0944 to register for the event or visit www.tradeannapolis.com for a complete list of addresses of the yard sale participants.

Also, be sure to visit the website regularly to see what is developing.
