This is being offered to Queens Co. residents over the age of 55. The course will begin Nov. 3 and run until Dec. 8 from 1-3 p.m. at the North Queens Fire Hall in Caledonia. The course is free of charge and light refreshments will be served.
The +55 safety academy will include a series of guest speakers to discuss such topics as frauds/scams, safe banking, fire and ambulance services, personal and home safety, winter driving tips, healthy foods and nutrition, fall prevention and Canadian Red Cross emergency response.
The course will also address elder abuse and discuss your rights as a community member over the age of 55.
The six-week course will provide hands on experience, as well as handout information. The course will finish with a closing ceremony with a special recognition for each person involved.
