In and Out of Africa

March (All Month) In and Out of Africa art exhibit, featuring the collection of Eloise Murray, at Macdonald Museum Art Gallery, 21 School Street, Middleton. Exhibit continues until March 31. Admission charged. Call 825-6116 for details.

Pancake Supper

February 28 A Pancake Supper will be held at Kingston United Church 773 Main Street, Kingston, on Thursday, Feb. 28 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Homemade pancakes, real maple syrup, hash-brown potatoes, sausage, tea, coffee, juice, homemade pies. Free will donation. Takeouts available.

Women’s Lunches

February 29 The Women’s Place is hosting community lunches the last Friday of each month. The next community lunch will be Friday, Feb. 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Guest speakers will be Marie Howe and Della Longmire, who have some interesting points surrounding pensions. All are welcome to attend. Free transportation can be arranged.

1-on-1 Computer Tutorials

March (All Month) Free basic computer tutorials at the Annapolis Royal Library. Register for a session by calling the library during open hours, 532-2226.

Electric Quilting

March Bridgetown C@P Site will be offering classes in “Electric Quilting” beginning in March. Learn to design quilts, match fabrics and colours, access border designs. Build on what you now know. For information contact Carol at 665-4804.

Adult Skating

March 1 Adult skating will be held at the Bridgetown Arena, 26 Jeffrey Street, February 16 from 6:45 to 7:45 p.m. Admission $4.

Lions Breakfast

March 1 Bridgetown Lions will offer their Lions Breakfast, Saturday, March 1 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Lions Hall, Bridgetown. Scrambled eggs, potatoe cakes etc. Free will offering. Everyone welcome.

Pre-Easter Breakfast

March 1 Bear River United Baptist Church’s Pre-East Breakfast starts at 9:30 a.m. Guest speaker will be Mark Cress. There will be a hymn sing. Free will donation. (More breakfasts on March 8 & 15.)

Indoor yard sale

March 1 Indoor Yard Sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Legion in Middleton in support of scouting. Includes yard sale tables, bake sale and 50/50, canteen available. Admission is $1. Tables still available by calling Candy at 825-6937 or Lisa at 825-3188.

Jam Session

March 3 Clementsport Legion upstairs, Ladies Auxiliary Jam Session, March 3 from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Freewill offering. Everyone welcome. Refreshments at 9 p.m. Come entertain and enjoy.

Valley Autism Support Team Meeting

March 4 The February VAST meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 4 starting at 7 p.m. in the Autism Centre, Kingston and District Elementary School, 630 Pine Ridge Ave, Kingston. Guest speaker will be Kym Hume, AVRSB Autism Consultant, who will provide and update on the STAR Autism Program (Strategies for Teaching based-on Autism Research), the FACTER (Teaching functional Daily Routines) and the TTAP (TEACCH Transitional Assessment Protocol). Citrus and Plant Sale

March 6 The Annapolis Royal Schools Bands are selling citrus fruit and potted flowers to raise funds. Oranges and grapefruit ($38 full case, $20 half case, $10 quarter case). Six inch potted gerbera daisies, pansies, and violas in assorted colours ($10). Place an order with a band member or call 532-0444 by March 6. Pick up date is Saturday, April 5 at ARRA.

Walk & talk

March 6 Middleton’s Good Morning Walk & Talk will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the Middleton Fire Hall. Join us for a nutritious breakfast, a healthy food talk and a special fitness presentation focused on “Top Ten Healthy Eating Habits” to get you on the right track. The fee is $5. Day of Prayer

March 7 Come to the World Day of Prayer at the Inglewood United Baptist Church, 309 Bay Road, Bridgetown. This service starts at 3:00 p.m. and everyone is welcome.

Health and Wellness Fair

March 7 The Bear River and Area Community Health Clinic in partnership with Juniper House Outreach presents a Health and Wellness Fair on Friday, March 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. upstairs in the Bear River Firehall. Family Fun Fest

March 9 Paradise Baptist Family Fun Fest. An afternoon of fun beginning with a potluck meal at 12:30 p.m. followed by a sleigh ride in Wilmot (or wagon ride if there’s no snow). Two 1/2-hour rides booked at 2:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. respectively. Cost is $2/person. Advance signup for the ride is required as space is limited. Community Choir Rehearsals

March 9 and 16 Those interested in participating in a community choir for the Good Friday service in Gordon Providence United Church, Bridgetown on March 21 are invited to attend rehearsals in the church from 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. Singers not affiliated with a church choir are welcome to attend. Palliative Care AGM

March 10 The Mid-Valley Palliative Care Services will hold their annual general meeting in the Founder’s Room of Soldiers’ Memorial, starting at 7 p.m. (Storm date for March 17.)

March break

March 11 Kid’s fun day, for children in grades 1-6, takes place from 9:00-4:30 pm. We depart from the Middleton Fire Hall and head to Annapolis Royal where the morning will be spent rock climbing in the Bouldering Room at AWEC and other fun games, then it’s off to Cornwallis for an afternoon of swimming at Lifeplex. Benefit Auction

March 15 A Chinese Auction is being held at the Cambridge Community Hall from 10am to 2pm, draw starts at 2 p.m. Proceeds are for the Hazelwood family of Kingston who lost their home and belongings to a house fire on New Years Eve.

Draft Horse Meeting
